Aerospace Engineering Colleges
Aerospace Engineering Colleges: Three Tips To Getting Accepted
Getting into the best aerospace engineering colleges can be a touchy situation for many. Students may not realize early one what is needed to capture the attention of college admission boards, and when they do realize what they need to do, for some of the most popular aerospace engineering colleges it is too late. Grades matter, but they are not the only thing that aerospace engineering colleges look at.
Aerospace engineering is a field in which science and math go hand in hand. Students with weak grades in science and math are obviously not stellar candidates for aerospace engineering colleges. College admissions boards look very closely at not only the grades in math and science during high school, but they also look to see the list of math and science courses that were taken. If a student took four years of easy courses and received A's in every class, that gives the impression that the student took the easy way out. Not only have their been cases where a student lost his or her chance to become the class valedictorian for taking easy classes, but they've also lost out on his or her top three choices for aerospace engineering colleges because they took the easy route.
Another issue that comes up is taking on so many extracurricular activities that it affected grades. Aerospace engineering colleges do look at extracurricular activities, but not as hard as some people think. Being a member of the school's science club looks good, attending space camp can look even better, but if the grades are not stellar because too much attention was put on after-school activities, students can lose out on placement in the top aerospace engineering colleges.
The SATs are one of the most important tools to getting into the aerospace engineering colleges on a student's list. Scores in math and science on the SAT are especially important. High marks here demonstrate a student's true understanding of the topics that play an important part in an aerospace program. Studying for the SATs is the best thing a student can do to capture the attention of their favorite aerospace engineering colleges.
