Associates or Bachelor's Aviation Degree: The Differences
Needless to say, the rising cost of college has many students closely studying the options between an associates or bachelor's aviation degree. While a two-year aviation degree (Associates) may not seem as impressive as a four-year bachelor's, the truth is that there are many jobs where workers can gain experience without having to spend a fortune on four years of college. Mainly the aviation degree held will depend on the studies involved.
San Diego's Miramar College offers a two year aviation degree in either Aviation Operations Management or Aviation Operations Professional Pilot. This two year aviation degree offers a solid education in two years time. With the two year aviation degree, students are out in the work force sooner, but the jobs they can take on are generally limited. Those interested in different aspects of aviation often need the full four year's of education to gain these more advanced jobs.
A two year Aviation Management degree usually requires completion in courses like Aviation Introduction, Aviation Management, Basic Flight Procedures, Business Communications, Business Management, and Team Work. A two year Aviation Operations Piloting course requires flight training, Aviation Introduction, Aviation Management, Commercial Piloting, Instrumentation, and Team Work. Though this offer is only a two year aviation degree, the starting salary for both positions are relatively high.
A four year aviation degree in Aviation Business Administration and Aviation Environmental Science are other options. This aviation degree may take longer and cost more, but it also better prepares students for the hard work ahead of them. Aviation Environmental Science degrees are currently a popular field. Courses in computers, math, and social sciences are requirements, but courses delve deeply into OSHA standards, Aviation science, FAA and EPA regulations, and more. After graduation, students can take government jobs helping to protect the environment from air traffic, focusing strongly on noise pollution and air emissions.
